1. Red Fort — The King Of All Forts

10 Place To Explore In Delhi

Red Fort is probably the most Famous place in all of Delhi. It was built by a very powerful Mughal emperor named Shah Jahan way back in 1638. The fort is made of deep red sandstone, which is why it is called the “Red Fort” or “Lal Qila” in Hindi. When you stand in front of it, you feel like you have traveled back in time to when kings & queens ruled the land.

Inside the fort, there are beautiful gardens, museums, & old royal buildings called “Mahal.” There is even a sound & light show that happens in the evenings, where the story of the fort is told with colorful lights & music. It is super fun for kids & adults alike! Every year on August 15th, which is India’s Independence Day, the Prime Minister of India raises the national flag from the walls of this very fort. That makes it extra special & important for every Indian.

If you are visiting Delhi for the First time, Red Fort should be at the very top of your list. It is open to visitors almost every day except Mondays. Make sure you wear comfy shoes because there is a lot of walking inside!

2. Qutub Minar — The Tallest Tower You Will Ever See

10 Place To Explore In Delhi

Imagine a tower so tall that it touches the sky — that is what Qutub Minar feels like! It is one of the tallest brick minarets in the whole world, standing at about 73 meters high. It was built more than 800 years ago by a ruler named Qutb-ud-din Aibak. The tower has beautiful carvings & writings from the Quran all over it, which make it look incredibly detailed & artistic.

The Qutub Minar Complex is not just about the tower. There is also an ancient Iron Pillar standing nearby that has not rusted even after 1,600 years — Scientists still find that very mysterious! Around the area, you can see ruins of old mosques & buildings that tell stories of a time long gone. Walking around the complex feels like being in a giant outdoor museum.

This place is a UNESCO World Heritage Site, which means it is recognized as one of the most important historical places in the entire world. The best time to visit is early in the morning when it is not too crowded & the weather is cool. Bring your camera because every corner of this place is super photogenic!

India Gate is one of those places that makes your heart feel very full. It is a War Memorial that was built to honor the brave soldiers of India who gave their lives during World War I. Standing at 42 meters tall, it looks like a big arch in the middle of a wide open space. At night, when it is lit up with lights, it looks absolutely Stunning.

Around India Gate, there are big green lawns where families come to sit, eat ice cream, & enjoy the evening breeze. Children ride little toy cars, couples take walks, & everyone just seems happy & relaxed. It is one of the most loved public spaces in all of Delhi. The eternal flame called “Amar Jawan Jyoti” burns here as a reminder of the soldiers who sacrificed everything for the country.

Every Republic Day on January 26th, a grand parade passes through this area, & it is one of the most Spectacular events you will ever see. Even if you are not there on that special day, just visiting India Gate on any regular evening is a truly beautiful experience.

4. Humayun's Tomb — A Garden Of Peace & Beauty

Humayun’s Tomb is one of those hidden gems that many tourists skip, but they really should not! It is the resting place of the Mughal emperor Humayun & was built by his wife Haji Begum in 1570. The tomb is surrounded by gorgeous Persian-style gardens that are green, peaceful, & absolutely lovely to walk through. There are beautiful arched doorways, intricate designs carved into the stone, & a big dome on top that makes it look very grand.
